“Celebrated Chinese New Year with a takeaway? Messy Church (February 28th) would like to recycle your plastic takeaway cartons (which can be from any takeaway, they don’t have to be from the Chinese!) for a seed planting activity. We also need pictures of people from all round the world, these could be cut out from magazines and needn’t be large as we are creating collage with them but we will need lots so please get snipping!. Please bring both items to church before 28th and give to Daphne or Karen.”

The Original Real Easter Egg, the first and only Fairtrade chocolate Easter egg to explain the Christian understanding of Easter. The 2015 edition has a new 24 page Easter storybook which when flipped over becomes a 3ft Happy Easter Banner, a high quality Fairtrade 125g milk chocolate egg and a pack of milk chocolate Chunky Buttons. I will be putting in an order for these. Please let me know if you would like me to order one/some for you. Sue Lloyd.

Messy Church on 28th February needs some help with cooking enough macaroni cheese for 50! We need several cooks to each make a large dish. Recipe and dish can be provided if necessary and cost of ingredients can be reimbursed. Please contact Karen Lane if you can help.

22nd /Feb – 5th/Apr: As members of the Methodist church we are all called to “Learning and Caring…so that I may grow in faith and support others in their discipleship”. Lent provides a special opportunity for us to do this and you are invited to follow a preaching series on Sundays on the seven “I Am” sayings of Jesus in John’s Gospel. To accompany this series you will receive a Prayer booklet containing a daily verse from a Bible reading, and a prayer composed by our own Prayer Group, which will enable some quiet personal reflection during the week on the themes covered. Please consider joining one of our Bible Study groups – starting on Thursday 5th March at 2pm (members’ homes) or Thursday evening at 7.45pm (church vestibule) – to discuss these topics in a little more detail, and share your thoughts in a friendly setting with other church members over tea and coffee. Please make time and make this Lent special by joining in on these activities. For more information please see Tim Clifford or Cheryl Marshall.

23rd/Feb – 30th/Mar: If you can’t manage Thursdays the Lent Study Group at Ruislip Manor will meet on Mondays at 8pm from inclusive. We will be reading “Power & Passion: Six Characters in Search of Resurrection” by Samuel Wells. If you would like to know more or to get a copy of the book (best to have it before the first session), please speak to Cathy on 01895 621935.

20th/Mar – 22nd/Mar: Methodist Women in Britain are holding weekend away lead by Revd. Jennifer Potter and entitled “He who prays sings prays twice”. Jennifer is a Minister at Wesley’s Chapel and a former International Affairs Officer with the Methodist church. The weekend runs from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon, accommodation is single en-suite and costs £156. The weekend is open to all women in the church and if you are interested please contact Ruth Watkins on 01296 485087 or emailruthmwatkins@aol.com.
