Newsletter – 27th October

Samaritans Purse’s Operation Christmas Child Shoebox need help collecting the boxes from local churches, schools, businesses and other community groups in the WD and HA postcode area. Could anyone assist by driving their own car or a hired van, or assisting the driver? The need is during November. Due to the age restrictions with hired vans any potential driver needs to be aged 25 – 76, have a full driving license and less than 6 penalty points. The new reading rota is on the Oasis notice board.  Please sign up for any weeks that you will be available and would like to read a lesson or prayer. Thankyou.

 

The Christmas Fayre will hold on 9th Nov. We are now collecting items for the Fayre and would be delighted to accept any of the following: Bric-a-Brac; Books; Jewellery; Toiletries; Toys; Wrapped tins (e.g. groceries, sweets etc); Raffle prizes (no alcohol thank you). Thanks – Janet and Audrey.

 

There will be a choice of Memorial services on 10th Nov this year. You can either attend the service at the War Memorial or the one in NMC where there will also be Junior church.

 

The NMC Supper Quiz will hold on 16th Nov from 6 – 9pm.  Please invite your friends from outside Church to join us for this social event. There will be tables of 6, but don’t be put off if you are a couple or on your own as we can put you into a team. Please be ready with your choice of jacket potato filling when you buy your tickets- Sausage casserole, Chicken Curry, Veggie Chilli or beans and cheese. Adults £10; Students £8. Donations of raffle prizes will be gratefully received. Proceeds from this event will go towards the Stonework Project. Please phone Karen 01895674514 or speak to Gill after today’s service.

 

If anyone is willing and able to make a large cake, similar to those sold in Oasis, for sale at the next community Family fundraising event – Love to Paint Hand Challenge, please contact Sally  or Lynn .  This event held on Saturday 23rd November from 10am to 12noon will be serving refreshments and having a cake sale in addition to the morning’s painting activity for the children.  All donations will be very much appreciated.  Thank you.

 

The Lynda Jackson Macmillan Centre at Mount Vernon Hospital is asking if anyone at NMC can spare sometime to sell some LJMC Christmas cards at the hospital.  If so please contact Dan Craggs on 01923 844589 or Daniel.craggs@nhs.net We have a small flyer in the Oasis Lounge showing the cards available to buy for this charity if anyone is interested.

 

Mark Ward from the food bank who we collect regularly for will be speaking at the CCJ event in December held at the Northwood and Pinner Liberal Synagogue, Oaklands Gate, HA6 3AA. Please see Oasis notice board for more details.
